Proof that Thursday night/Friday morning was very rough indeed off the Galway coast
Massive thanks to Marie Coyne for the footage and picture below. Marie, who lives on the island, was woken by the storm and decided to shoot some video of what she could see in the early hours of Friday morning. It shows the pier getting absolutely battered by very high winds and waves.
When the storm passed, Marie set out to take a snap of the lighthouse to show just how much damage had been done during the foul weather. Compared to the lighthouse pre storm, it took a serious lashing and an adjacent building was totally destroyed.
With more hideous weather headed straight for them, we wish Marie and everyone else on the island gets through the next 36 hours unscathed.
