Weather warning

There’s some fairly ugly weather on the horizon.

Met Éireann issued a fresh status yellow wind weather warning for 10 counties at midday on Wednesday (5 December). The warning covers Galway, Mayo, Sligo, Roscommon, Leitrim, Cavan, Donegal, Clare, Kerry and Limerick.

Southwest winds will reach mean wind speeds between 55 to 65km/h with gusts of 90 to 110km/h, strongest near coasts where these limits may be exceeded for a short period later on Thursday night.

The warning will be in effect from 10pm on Thursday until 9am on Friday of this week.

Similarly, a craft warning has been issued off the coast of Ireland, alerting sailors to: “South to southwest winds that will increase to force 6 or 7 on Thursday on all Irish coasts.”
