“It doesn’t need to exist.”
Cillian Murphy has spoken out about homelessness at the launch of the Simon House of Light festival at Powerscourt Townhouse Centre in Dublin.
The actor was one of many in attendance at the event on Thursday night.
After saying that homelessness is not something that needs to exist, Murphy continued: “If there’s enough imagination, if there’s enough resources, if people actively engage with it, I think hopefully it’s something we can solve”.

The three-day festival will run from 5pm – 10pm from Thursday 5 December until Saturday 7 December.
It will see an animated Christmas story projected on to the facade of Powerscourt Townhouse Centre.
The light show, which will run throughout the festival, will be accompanied by a host of musical performances on the steps of the centre each night.
The goal of the event is to highlight the issue of homelessness, while also raising money for the Simon Community, as donations will be welcomed on-site.
According to stats released on Thursday, 16,776 people used Simon Communities services in 2018, up from 13,304 people in 2017.
