Be careful out there…

Despite the mild conditions, winter is officially upon us. Thus, you can expect an increase in weather warnings in the weeks to come.

Cue the latest such missive from Met Éireann. Per the national forecaster, a Status Yellow wind warning is set to come into play on Monday, 7 November.

According to the warning, a spell of “very strong and gusty southerly winds will track eastwards on Monday”, with “damaging” gusts of up to 110 kilometres possible.

Five counties are affected by the warning – Cork, Kerry, Waterford, Wexford and Wicklow.

The warning is valid from 11am on Monday morning and will remain in place until 9pm that night.

As for the days ahead on the weather front, Sunday evening will see rain develop in the southwest, spreading northwards to all areas of the country overnight. Met Éireann says to expect lowest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees.

Monday will continue the mild trend to begin with, though it will be cloudy with outbreaks of rain. The rain will become heavier as the day goes on, spreading eastwards – localised flooding is a possibility.

Highest temperatures of 12 to 14 degrees are expected during daytime hours, dropping to 7 to 8 degrees during a night that will also bring some blustery showers from the west.

Tuesday looks like a sunnier proposition, with spells of sunshine and scattered showers in the mix, though isolated thunderstorms may occur. Highest daytime temperatures of 11 to 13 degrees.

Wednesday will also start off in bright and breezy fashion, with rain making its presence felt by the time the afternoon rolls around. The rain will persist into the evening and the night, with highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees anticipated.

Thursday is set to be mild, humid and mostly cloudy with outbreaks of rain and drizzle, though highest temperatures of 16 degrees are in play. Friday and the weekend, meanwhile, should be both mild and unsettled.
