10 counties will be affected by three weather warnings until at least 3pm on Friday.

Met Éireann issued a status yellow wind warning for Galway, Mayo, Clare and Kerry early on Friday morning, warning of gusts of up to 95 km/h throughout the day.

Issued at 6am, the warning comes into effect at 10am and will remain in place until 6pm, with southerly winds with mean speeds of 50 to 60 km/h and gusts of 80 to 95 km/h expected to hit the affected counties from late morning through until the afternoon.

Gusts will be strongest in coastal areas.

The warning is one of three status yellow warnings in effect on Friday morning; a rainfall warning for Kilkenny, Wexford, Clare, Limerick and Tipperary remains in place until 3pm on Friday, as does a separate rainfall warning for Cork, Kerry and Waterford.

Spot flooding remains a risk in all of the affected counties following heavy rain overnight on Thursday and for a time on Friday morning, with up to 50mm of rain expected in Cork, Kerry and Waterford.

Thankfully, the weather is set to pick up over the weekend and while there will be scattered heavy showers in places, plenty of dry and sunny spells are also expected, with temperatures reaching as high as 14 degrees.
