Weather experts pinpoint when Ireland’s dry sunny spell will ‘change’

'More unsettled weather' is coming for Ireland.

Today (Thursday, 23 July) will be mostly dry, with highest temperatures of 19 to 24 degrees generally.

That said, the Irish meteorological service's forecast states that conditions will become more cloudy from Friday.

That's before temperatures dip by a few degrees from Saturday.

Met Éireann's national overlook reads: "A change to more unsettled weather this weekend, with temperatures near or slightly above normal."

This assessment of the Emerald Isle's incoming weather has been echoed by both Carlow Weather and Ireland's Weather Channel.

Here's the meteorological service's breakdown of Ireland's weather for the next few days:

Friday (24 July)

Friday morning will be mainly cloudy with isolated patches of drizzle, most likely in the north and west.

Some sunny spells will develop through the afternoon, becoming hazier by evening.

Highest temperatures of 17 to 24 degrees, warmest in the south and southeast, with a light to moderate west to northwest breeze

Cloud will quickly spread from the northwest on Friday night, bringing scattered outbreaks of rain or drizzle.

Lowest temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees with light to moderate westerly winds, fresh at times in the northwest.

Saturday (25 July)

Cloudy with scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle, most frequent in the west and north. Some hill and coastal mist also.

Highest temperatures of 15 to 22 degrees, warmest in the east and southeast. Breezier than recent days with a moderate to occasionally fresh westerly wind.

Saturday night will stay largely cloudy with scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle, along with hill and coastal mist.

Lowest temperatures of 13 to 15 degrees with a moderate westerly breeze.

Sunday (26 July)

Cloudy with outbreaks of rain and drizzle at first, but becoming drier with occasional breaks in the cloud as the day goes on.

Highest temperatures of 15 to 21 degrees, warmest in the southeast, with a moderate westerly wind.

Sunday night will see cloud and patchy rain or drizzle continue in the north and near Atlantic coasts, but it will be dry with clear spells in other areas.

Lowest temperatures of 10 to 15 degrees with light to moderate southwest to west winds.

Monday (27 July)

Some early sunny spells in the south and east, but otherwise Monday will be a largely cloudy day with rain or drizzle developing in many areas.

The rain is forecast to be most persistent in the north and west, and parts of the southeast may remain dry.

Highest temperatures are set to range between 17 degrees in the northwest and 23 degrees in the southeast, with a moderate to fresh southwesterly wind.
