Gardaí confirmed a male youth was arrested in relation to the incident.

A male youth is being detained at Longford Garda Station following an assault at the building that left a Garda hospitalised. In a statement to JOE, a Garda spokesperson said that an investigation has been launched following an incident of assault that occurred in the early hours of Tuesday (23 August) at the station. A male Garda in his 30s received injuries during the incident and was later taken to Mullingar Region Hospital for treatment. The spokesperson also said that a male youth was arrested in relation to the assault and is currently detained at Longford Garda Station.
