Trump Biden

This is the highest margin between the two in any CNN poll so far.

Joe Biden leads Donald Trump by 16 points in a recent poll, representing the highest margin between the two in any CNN poll thus far.

Among likely voters, 57% say they back Biden, with 41% preferring Trump, in a poll that was conducted shortly after the first debate took place.

CNN, who conducted the poll, pointed out the fact that this does not necessarily mean that Biden is more likely to win the election, as it will come down to a specific number of swing states.

As it stands, Biden leads in several of those critical battlegrounds, but narrower margins than his national advantage suggests.

CNN says: “A poll is not a prediction of how the election will ultimately turn out but instead is a snapshot of the race as it currently stands.”

It has been less than a week since Biden and Trump faced off in a debate, and since then, Trump was hospitalised with Covid-19, and a number of his key staff, including his wife, also contracted the virus.

With regards to Covid-19, 59% of people polled said they would prefer Biden to be in charge of the fight against coronavirus, with 38% preferring Trump.

39% of people polled say they have a positive view of President Trump.

The full findings of the poll can be seen here.
