It’s been a fairly successful weekend for Michael D. Higgins.
The President of Ireland stepped up his campaigning game this weekend when he released his official t-shirts, which sold out hours after they went on sale.
The next day, more Miggeldy merch went on sale…
His official tea cosies, or Michael Tea Higgins to use their proper title, sold out in less than four minutes.
Four minutes!
And now, he has released a video detailing his presidential pitch in 60 seconds.
In the video, Higgins outlines his plans for the coming seven years, if he were to remain the President of Ireland.
He speaks about the importance of the President’s role with regards to the state of the nation, saying:
“This election is about the future of our people and our communities. I am passionate about our meeting the challenges together, and seeing the possibilities presented by the coming years.
“This is how we can help Ireland to achieve its potential as a real republic, one where everyone can participate equally.
“In an increasingly uncertain world, we also need a voice of wisdom and respect, committed to reaching out to our neighbours, our partners, and our emigrants across the globe.

Voting in this year’s election will take place on Friday 26 October.
