Somehow, we don’t see this happening… and nor does anyone else who replied.
Jason O’Mahony, a columnist for The Times Ireland Edition, shocked social media on Friday when he made a pretty damn bold prediction about the future of the Irish presidency.
“Prediction; Arlene Foster will, at some stage in the future, be President of Ireland. Write it down.” O’Mahony then went on to ask Paddy Power for odds on the prediction, but they’ve yet to get back to him. We can admit that we’d be curious to see the numbers on that one too.

Foster, who is the current leader of the DUP, is a fierce critic of Taoiseach Leo Varadkar’s stance on Brexit — and has repeatedly accused Ireland of trying to undermine the status of the North as part of the United Kingdom.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, O’Mahony’s call has invited an awful lot of surprise.

Ireland is currently preparing for a presidential election to be held in October of this year. Michael D. Higgins will be running as an incumbent, with several challengers currently seeking nomination, including Gavin Duffy, Joan Freeman and Éamon Ó’Cuív.
