Over 40% of Americans think Trump government is the worst of their lifetime

Rudi Kinsella

Trump state of emergency

A fairly damning statistic.

Just over four in ten American people feel that the current government is the worst one that they have lived through, according to a recent poll published by CNN.

The poll in question, which was conducted by the market research firm SSRS, also found that almost seven out of ten think the federal government is doing a bad job of governing.

Most of these numbers come as a result of the recent government shutdown, which was the longest in the history of America.

The poll suggests that most people would want to avoid shutdowns in the future: 53% would back legislation preventing any future shutdowns, 40% would oppose that.

Another government shutdown could potentially could be on the cards, if an agreement isn’t reached by 15 February to fund certain parts of the government.

When people who were surveyed were asked whether they felt the current President was moving the country in the right direction, the results were actually quite close.

53% of people felt his policy proposals were moving the country in the wrong direction, while 41% of people felt they were going in the right one.

Maybe he can buy that 53% of people loads of fast food to try and change their minds.
