Alan Loughnane

Eamon Dunphy Liverpool

“I was always a Liverpool fan!”

Eamon Dunphy is never a man to hold back in his opinions on things, such as his extremely blunt assessment of the government’s view of some sectors of Irish society.

He stopped short of calling them spoofers though.

Eamon was the guest on Ireland Unfiltered with Dion Fanning this week as he spoke about his love for the club of Liverpool and what sets their fans apart from other fans.

You can read what he had to say below.

Dion: When did you become a Liverpool fan?

Eamon: I was always a Liverpool fan!

Dion: Were you?

Eamon: I think it’s a great club, you’ve only got to watch them singing the song before a game and see the faces to know that this is not Old Trafford, and these people are not eating prawn sandwiches, that they’re genuine Liverpudlians.

They’re working people and the song itself and lyrics of it, ‘Walk on to the rain’, all of that. They’re people I can identify with, it’s a club I can identify with and they have produced great teams.

They play the game the way it should be played. Its a real thing and you feel all of the people there are from Liverpool.

You can watch the interview in full below.
