A few things Ireland fans should know about Poland … including a sense of humour festival

Did you know that you can buy 76 litres of beer for the price of your dole or that there is a sense of humour festival coinciding with Ireland’s visit to Gdansk in June? Neither did we.

Did you know that you can buy 76 litres of beer for the price of your dole or that there is a sense of humour festival coinciding with Ireland’s visit to Gdansk in June? Neither did we.

That is until we came across ‘From Doleland to Poland’, an offbeat website for Irish fans with witty (but true) facts about Poland, cultural information and tips on how to get the cheapest grub and beer in a country that will be familiar to plenty of Irish people and will be invaded by thousands of followers of the Boys in Green come the summer time.

Readers of the website will also find information about accommodation, Polish food and drink and the best phrases with which to chat up the local women, who are, admittedly, a damn sight more attractive than what Ireland has to offer.

It’s not going to be a cheap jaunt on the continent in the summer so users are also encouraged to share whatever information, tips and experiences they might have that could prove invaluable for the multitude of intrepid Irish supporters heading to Poznan, Gdansk and beyond.

The website has already been featured in the Daily Star and mentioned by Tom Dunne and David McWilliams amongst others, so if you’re one of the lucky few heading along to watch the Boys in Green, be sure to check out From Doleland to Poland before you head off, for more information on that fabulous sounding sense of humour festival as much as anything else.
