Ireland pipped as USA lift the Aga Khan trophy at the RDS

It went right down to the wire, with a clear round from 2025 Dublin Grand Prix winner Laura Kraut proving the vital score for the Americans. The milestone edition was historic for another reason too: it was the first time two brothers featured on the same Irish team, as Daniel Coyle (31) from Co Derry on Farrel and older brother Jordan Coyle (33) on Chaccolino both jumped clear. Cork’s Shane Sweetnam added a third first-round clear on Coriaan Van Klapscheut Z, so anchor rider Cian O’Connor did not need to jump.

Ireland and the USA went into the second round level on zero. Both Coyle brothers produced double clears, but four faults from Sweetnam and a decisive clear from Kraut left O’Connor, on his 20th Aga Khan appearance, needing a clear on Kentucky TN. Four faults meant the trophy went to the USA, with Ireland runners-up, Switzerland third, Germany fourth and Britain fifth, as RTÉ Sport and The42 reported.
