Galway football manager Alan Mulholland has stepped down as Galway manager following three years at the helm of the Connacht county according to the Galway GAA Twitter account.

Mulholland has decided not to stay on for one more season in charge of the Tribesmen and will step away from the post with immediate effect.

Galway exited this year’s championship at the hands of Kerry in the All-Ireland quarter finals earlier this month following wins over Tipperary and Sligo.

Galway also reached the Connacht Final  this season but they were comprehensively beaten by last year’s All-Ireland finalists Mayo in the Connacht decider.
