After the success of last year, An Post Tour of Sligo returns on May 3rd and 4th offering you the first chance to ‘Become a Series Cyclist’ with An Post Cycle Series 2014.

Last year an incredible 2,500 participants took to the roads of Sligo for An Post Tour of Sligo, including the family fun day and the main events and this year promises to be even better!

The cycling tour will afford people of Sligo and visitors to the county, the chance to enjoy stunning scenery ranging from majestic mountains to spectacular sea views; picturesque country scenery and rural villages from the saddle of a bike.

As part of the overall event, there are four different routes of varying degrees of difficulty. Thus the tour will accommodate a wide range of cycling interests, including family cycling, the leisure cyclist and of course, seasoned/experienced cyclists.

This year they are holding the 10k Hazelwood Spin for All on Saturday, May 3 for kids of nine years old and over and due to its success last year, the 2km Bike Trail for those aged 6-8 years (pic above) will be happening again. These will be part of the Family Fun Day which will include BMX displays, cycling acrobatics, Dr. Bike, a cycle skills challenge, music, fun activities and more.

Once again for 2014 there is the 60km Lough Gill Circuit, the 100km Innisfree Tour, and the 160km Ox Mountain Challenge (pic below). There will be a different climb this year in the Ox Mountains so a slight change can be expected by cyclists in the 100k and 160k events. Once again numbers on the main events will be capped at 2,000 cyclists, so make sure you enter early and avoid the disappointment!
