Dublin GAA confirmed that the Clare native has stepped down from the post after six years in charge.

The news comes amid recent speculation that Daly was going to call it a day with the Dubs, with Chairman Andy Kettle also suggesting that they were looking for a manager to commit to a three-year contract rather than Daly potentially extending his term by another year.

Daly has also been linked with the vacant Galway job in recent weeks, but if that were to happen he would have to go up against Anthony Cunningham, who is believed to be interested in continuing as manager of the Tribesmen after his initial three-year term came to an end this season.

An All-Ireland winning captain with Clare who managed his native county before taking the Dublin job, Daly is hugely respected in hurling circles and should he be interested in a new challenge, he is not likely to be short of offers.
