Australian commentator makes incredibly bizarre remark about Ireland during today’s match

Paul Moore

Really, really weird.

Right now, it appear that nothing can stop Joe Schmidt’s men as Ireland secured their first ever overall win in a test series Down Under since 1979.

After losing their opening match, Ireland responded brilliantly to pick up back-to-back wins against the Wallabies.

As for today’s game, Ireland had to dig deep after Peter O’Mahony’s early injury was compounded by a yellow card for Jacob Stockdale.

Ultimately, C.J Stander’s try and five penalties from the boot of Johnny Sexton gave Ireland the 20-16 win but Australia pushed them all the way during a pulsating final test in Sydney.

This being said, during the match, FoxSports commentator and former Wallaby hooker Phil Kearns made some very peculiar remarks that plenty of Irish viewers noticed.

Kearns is renowned for his outspoken commentary and during a pause in the play that occurred in the 47th minute, he said: “Fiddle-a-dee, Fiddle-a-dee, Fiddle-a-dee, potato…out the back there having their own little chat.”

Yeah, it’s just a little bit weird.

Have a listen.

The commentator appeared to be frustrated at the amount time that Ireland were taking to set their scrum but plenty of people noticed.

Really, really weird.
