Somebody in the Australian camp didn’t take defeat too well, it would appear.

According to this morning’s Irish Examiner, the IRFU are considering billing the Australian Rugby Union (ARU) for damage done to the away dressing room at the Aviva Stadium in the wake of Ireland’s magnificent victory over the Wallabies on Saturday.

The report in the Examiner suggests that damage estimated at “a few thousand euro” was inflicted on doors and fittings in the dressing room used by Michael Cheika’s side, who were on the wrong end of a 26-23 defeat.

The report also contains a quote from a spokesman for the Australian team, which indicates that it was a member of the support staff as opposed to one of the players responsible for the damage and that the IRFU were notified about it on Saturday evening.

“There was an accident after the match involving one of our support staff,” the spokesman said.

“We made the IRFU aware of this on the evening of the game and have offered our assistance in any way if required.”
