On penalties, but it still counts.
Every now and then the world is blessed with a unique sort of magic that you knew could happen but never thought would actually occur.
On Sunday, a Scottish League Cup match brought together one of the great ‘Will it ever happen?” fixtures as East Fife took on Forfar Athletic.
Seven minutes in, East Fife took the lead only for their rivals to pull one back bang on half time.
And that’s how it finished. One-all. Spoils shared in classic Sunday fashion.
But wait, that’s hardly a notable result now, is it?
One-all draws happen all the time.
They do, but this one went to penalties, and from there, it happened.
Oh yes, it finally happened.
Take a moment. Breathe it in.
Say it out loud.
Savour it.
EAST FIFE FOUR
FORFAR FIVE
Say it 10 times in a row.
Tell a neighbour.
Remember the date; 22 July 2018.
It happened.

Easily the best result in the history of the beautiful game.
Only one thing could possibly rival it; that time the late, great Mark E. Smith of The Fall was invited to read out the full-time scores on the BBC.
