Leinster prop Cian Healy will miss the remainder of Leinster’s Heineken Cup pool games and possibly the start of the Six Nations after undergoing ankle surgery yesterday.
Leinster coach Matt O’Connor said today that Healy faces up to eight weeks on the sidelines as a result of an injury sustained in the run-up to the devastating victory over Northampton Saints at the weekend.
Matt O’Connor: “Cian had ankle surgery on Wednesday so he’s unavailable for about 8 weeks. He’s doing good but he won’t play for a while.”

If O’Connor’s timeframe for Healy’s recovery is accurate, the Lions prop will definitely miss all three of Leinster’s remaining games in the pool stages of the Heineken Cup and will be pushing it to try and make the opening Six Nations encounter against Scotland in the Aviva Stadium on February 14 next year.
Healy will be a big loss for Leinster over the busy Christmas period and for Ireland if he doesn’t make it back in time for the start of the Six Nations and it’s a big personal blow for a man who was forced to withdraw from the Lions Tour due to injury in the summer.
Thankfully for Healy, he’s got good friends to help through this tough time…
