The burning issues of the football weekend get the go over…

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher always has some interesting insights into the goings on at his old club and this week he turned his attention to the Reds’ misfiring striker Mario Balotelli.

The Italian had a few decent goalscoring opportunities in Liverpool’s 0-0 draw with Hull but once again he failed to register.

Carragher’s analysis of Balotelli’s inability to lead the line on his own and the teams reliance on a strike partner to bring out the best in Balotelli is very interesting.

Take a look.

It’s not all bad news for the Italian however as the police have confirmed that they will not take action against the Italian after he was recently accused of threatening a woman.

Elsewhere, the other main talking points of the Premier League weekend came at Old Trafford as Chelsea kept their terminator vice like grip on top spot intact following an entertaining 1-1 draw against Manchester United.

Much like their last game in Manchester, the Blues let two points slip in the dying moments as Robin Van Persie’s last-minute goal gave the hosts a deserved point.

The draw means that Jose Mourinho’s men kept their unbeaten start to the season intact as the possibility remains that Chelsea can emulate the Arsenal Invincibles of 2003-04.

The duo were talking about the Blues’ chances of matching Wenger’s best ever side and here’s what they had to say.
