Champions League LOVE/HATE – The good and the bad from this week’s action

The good and the bad from this week's games

JOE

Matchday six served up some scintillating football and as per usual, there were some things we loved and some things we hated…

Samir Nasri inspired Manchester City, Chelsea were once again magnificent, while Arsenal punished a poor Galatasaray side and Liverpool crashed out of the tournament due to a lack of invention and poor defending.

Here is what we loved and what we hated from this week’s action.

Love

Aaron Ramsey’s Left boot

Definitely the goal of matchday six. Possibly the goal of the tournament. Now, if only the Welshman could stay fit…

The Barcelona strike force

Messi’s record-extending 75th goal in the Champions League, followed by strikes for both Neymar and Suarez.

Three of the world’s best strikers lining out for one team… it’s almost unfair. Poor Liverpool only have Ricky Lambert at the moment.

The Bundesliga

Four teams entered. Four teams are now in the last 16.

Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen, Schalke and Borussia Dortmund have all managed to book a place in Monday’s draw. That’s German efficiency at its finest.

HATE

Liverpool’s horrible season

Liverpool have been average at best this season and now their Champions League journey has come to an end in the first round.

Conceding an early goal, taking off your only striker when you need to win and getting a player sent off all indicate that the Pool were their own worst enemy on Tuesday. Unfortunately, this has been a familiar story this season.

BATE Borisov’s defence

Conceding 23 goals in the group stage makes Bate’s defence the leakiest in Champions League history. That’s not a record any team would want.
