Conor McGregor’s shot at redemption against Nate Diaz will come at UFC 202 in Las Vegas on August 20.

The Notorious will take on Diaz in a welterweight rematch, despite rumblings from the UFC that talks over the fight had stalled.

This puts to bed the unrealistic rumours that McGregor would take on Floyd Mayweather in one of the most lucrative boxing matches in history.

McGregor was submitted by Diaz when the pair fought back in UFC 196 in March and had initially agreed to fight on the landmark UFC 200 card in Las Vegas, before that fell through.

While some may argue that a rematch doesn’t make any sense when McGregor still needs to defend his featherweight crown, but there’s no denying that people will be intrigued by this rematch and even if you don’t agree with it, you’ll tune in to watch.

It seems likely that win or lose, McGregor will have to defend the featherweight title next against the winner of Frankie Edgar and Jose Aldo or relinquish the title.

Time to start getting excited people…
