One of the hottest properties in English football right now, we take a look at some of the man from Donegal’s finest moments.

Everton v Southampton, December 29th 2013

If ever a goal encapsulated exactly what Seamus Coleman is all about then surely this is the one. He picks the ball up on the right wing, looks to see if he can give it to someone. He sees nobody showing for it so decides to run at the full-back, cuts inside the box at breakneck speed and hits a stinging, swerving shot across the goal and into the far corner for a brilliant goal.

Everton v QPR, January 4th 2014

You don’t expect full-backs to have the predatory finishing of a top class striker, but this goal scored by Coleman in the FA Cup match against QPR is as good a finish as you will see anywhere. Once again he is marauding forward as he does with such effect, where he receives a ball played into his path on the edge of the box. The temptation for most would be to put their laces through the ball, but without a first touch, he nonchalantly side-foots it into the corner of the net past the despairing dive of the goalkeeper. Sublime finish.

Swansea City v Everton, December 22nd 2013

In a tight game away to Swansea, Coleman once again showed his ability to get goals with this blockbuster. Receiving the ball out wide, he takes everyone by surprise by unleashing a venomous, swerving shot which gives the keeper absolutely no chance. It was hit with such pace and moved so wildly in the air that the keeper was left helpless.

Everton v Arsenal, April 6th 2014

He doesn’t just score great goals though. This moment of wizardry, against none other than Santi Carzola of Arsenal, is a beautiful piece of skill which Messi or Ronaldo would be proud of. It’s a thing of beauty that left the Spaniard absolutely bamboozled.

Sligo Rovers v Bray Wanderers, May 17th 2008

Of course, Seamus began his career in the League of Ireland and played for Sligo Rovers. This proved to be the only goal he would score in the League of Ireland, but it’s a pretty decent effort all the same.

Looking back now, it was obviously a taster of what was to come from the man from Killybegs. Picking up the ball at the half-way line, he passes inside but keeps running to receive the return pass as he enters the Bray box. On his weaker left foot he curls a beauty into the goal, once again displaying those predatory-like instincts.
