Cork man is waiting on one more bet to win €250,000 in an accumulator

Alan Loughnane

We wish him well…

A man from Cork is waiting anxiously on the final bet of his massive 10-fold accumulator that he made in a betting shop last May.

If the result goes his way, he will net himself a cool €248,701.79 in winnings from his €200 bet on the accumulator last year.

Nine of the punter’s bets have already come in:

  • 4/9 Clare to beat Limerick in the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship
  • 6/5 Tipperary to win the Munster Senior Hurling Championship
  • 9/5 France to reach the final of Euro 2016
  • 4/7 Argentina to win Copa America Group D
  • 11/10 Dublin to win the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship
  • 1/2 Cork to win League of Ireland Premier Division betting without Dundalk
  • 6/5 Drogheda to win League of Ireland Division 1 betting without Limerick
  • 6/5 England to win the Six Nations
  • 5/2 Newcastle to win the Championship

So what bet is he waiting on? Well, one that was basically guaranteed in every season up until this one.

  • 4/6 Arsenal to finish in the top 4 of the Premier League

The bet was placed with Paddy Power and the betting agency have placed the Gunners as 9/2 underdogs to finish in the Champions League places, having lost ground on Liverpool and Manchester City.

The Gunners will need to win all of their remaining games to keep their faint hopes of a top four finish alive… and this Cork man’s hopes of scoring a quarter of a million euro.
