“In my mind I was thinking ‘hit a nine-darter, put him under pressure’”. So said Phil Taylor after his exhibition of dart-throwing against Kevin Painter last night.

The Power had been trailing 4-1 to Painter at one point during their Premier League Darts head to head in Aberdeen last night, but the multiple world champion battled his way back to 5-4 by the ninth leg before applying the coup de grace to level the scores in the tenth.

Taylor threw a treble 20, treble 17 and double 18 to check out on 147 in the tenth leg and didn’t look back thereafter, going on to win 8-5 in the end.

In the night’s other matches, Adrian Lewis let a five leg lead slip against Raymond van Barneveld and ended up finishing level on seven legs apiece, Gary Anderson had it easy in an 8-2 win over Andy Hamilton and Simon Whitlock finished on top of the table after defeating James Wade 8-4.

The highlight of the night, however, was undoubtedly Taylor’s nine-dart finish, his eleventh ever filmed on live television. Check it out for yourself in the video above.
