Thanks to Irish supporters’ club, You Boys in Green, Irish fans heading to the Euros in the summer can avail of special €25 per night prices for Carlsberg FanCamps in Gdansk and Poznan.

Members of You Boys in Green (YBIG) are just back from a four-day reconnaissance mission in Poland and as well as checking out the stadiums, speaking to the mayor of Poznan and a collection of local media and of course, hunting out the best pubs and nightspots on offer for Irish fans, they also helped secure an affordable price for the camps, which are sure to be the hub for many Irish supporters in the summer.

Irish fans can book the special deal between February 29th and March 31st with the €25 package based on a minimum three night stay to include a night’s accommodation in a supplied tent at the UEFA Euro 2012 sponsor’s camp with breakfast in the morning and also two pints of Carlsberg later in the day.

The price for the same package had been €39 until YBIG met the organisers last week and negotiated a fairly significant 35% reduction. Irish fans with camper vans can now stay at the camps for €25 per person also and there will be mobile homes available for four or six people for €75 per person, with all the details available on the Carlsberg Ireland Football Facebook Page.

Commenting on the FanCamp offer, David Byrne from You Boys in Green said: “It’s great news and we’re delighted that we’ve been able to negotiate this special deal.

“Accommodation is a major issue for Irish fans as hotels are charging crazy prices and looking for anything from €300 up to €600 per night. Fans can’t afford that and obviously don’t want to spend that type of money, but for €25 per night in a tent or in your camper van at the Carlsberg FanCamp it’s a brilliant offer.

“They are offering this special to us because they really want the Irish fans to stay there and obviously there will be large numbers of us travelling, but they explained that the Irish fans have the best reputation in the world, so they’ll enjoy themselves and will really make a party atmosphere. The offer was going to be open to Irish fans only initially but we told them to open it up to the other fans as we want a mix of nationalities there and to mingle with the other fans as this is what these tournaments are all about.

Carlsberg Senior Brand Manager, Karen Murphy added: “We have teamed up with YBIG to offer this package for fans and are delighted that it’s worked out.

‘We worked closely with our colleagues in Carlsberg in Poland to arrange this deal and they are so enthusiastic about the Irish fans coming that they want to do everything that they can to make sure the supporters have an amazing experience at the tournament.

“In terms of numbers it looks like the Irish fans will be one of the largest groups travelling to the tournament, so it’s really important for the organisers to have a relationship with the likes of You Boys in Green to help them prepare for what is going to be a huge influx of Irish supporters.”
