Footballer scores world’s most accidental goal at U-20 Women’s World Cup

Lauren Hemp goal

“Haters gonna say I didn’t mean it.”

That was Lauren Hemp’s hilarious take after she scored the World’s Most Accidental Goal at the U-20 Women’s World Cup for England.

The 18-year-old, who plays her club football at Manchester City, almost did enough when she took the ball round the keeper, only to be sent flying into the air by the oncoming challenge. Fortunately for her, she landed directly on the ball, which popped out from beneath her and into the back of the net.

Having trouble imagining it? Take a look.

And maybe it’s fair to say that she did mean it. Hemp’s form is pretty good right now, and yesterday’s bizarre goal was just one of three that she put past the keeper in England’s 6-1 win over Mexico.

England will now progress to the quarter-finals.
