Joe Schmidt’s side was depleted by injuries and, with Ian Madigan having a mixed afternoon in place of the injured Johnny Sexton and Ireland missing the thrust of Sean O’Brien, Peter O’Mahony and captain Paul O’Connell, the men in green were never in the game.
