Fans of hurling like to say that it is the greatest field sport in the world and if they were looking for one game to illustrate that to a wider audience, then they couldn’t have found a better one than the meeting of Cork and Dublin at the weekend.

Yes, it really was that good and host Conor Heneghan is joined by Sean Nolan, proud Cork man Declan Whooley and Shane Stapleton (follow Shane on Twitter @shanesaint) to fawn over the quality produced by both sides in the game of the year so far.

The controversies over the red card dished out to Ryan O’Dwyer and the lack of a red card flashed at Liam Rushe prompts a conversation about the standard of refereeing in general and whether there is a problem in the game in the wake of a series of controversial dismissals in recent weeks.

If Clare v Limerick can live up to Cork v Dublin we’re in for a treat and the lads preview what should be a cracker, focussing on the tactical battle and the meeting of minds between John Allen and Davy Fitzgerald on the sideline.

In the wake of the end of Michael Ryan’s tenure in Waterford, the dissatisfaction of the Waterford players and potential successors for Ryan are discussed and although there are no football matches to predict for another week, there are still All-Ireland Final tickets up for grabs on the JOE GAA Prediction League in association with eircom’s Win, Lose or Draw game.
