Great news for League of Ireland fans abroad as 250 matches are to be streamed online for free in 2016

That's a lot of football

That’s a lot of football.

Nothing will beat following the floodlights on a Friday or Saturday night to see your local club in action but for League of Ireland fans abroad, this sadly isn’t an option.

Personally speaking, I’d be heartbroken if I couldn’t see my own club Bohemians every second Friday in the flesh but there’s some great news for football fans living abroad after the FAI announced plans to stream every single Airtricity League match in the 2016 season online for free.

The FAI have just announced a four year deal with TRACKCHAMP, the official video and data partner of Irish football, as they aim to improve the performance of Irish clubs, both on and off the pitch.  The real-time tracking technology and digital entertainment company aims to provide live-streaming, data collection and video analysis to help League of Ireland clubs.

It’s fair to state that anything that can help improve the standard of every club in Ireland is very welcome and the management staff might find additional stats and data analysis to be a big help.

This being said, the real attraction of the partnership to fans is the availability of every single match for football supporters that are currently living outside of Ireland. Here’s hoping that TRACKCHAMP can help fill the void from not being able to go and see your local club.
