Guy wins €45,000 on €10 football accumulator, puts most of it on Wales to beat Aussies tomorrow

Guess he won’t miss it as he never had it that long.

Guess he won’t miss it as he never had it that long.

This time last week, Welsh roofer Steve Richards was just like the rest of us, putting his football accumulator together. But when Steve made his 12 selections and handed over his tenner he wasn’t to know that he had done what wwe all hope to do; get every single one of them correct. Eleven results came in for him on Saturday before an agonising wait for Aston Villa’s game with West Brom on Monday night.

Having backed the draw, Steve proved that a man can sleep through anything as he dozed off in the second half with West Brom leading only to wake up to loads of messages from friends to tell him Villa had battled back, and he was £38,000 (€45,000) richer.

And now, rather than enjoy the weekend relaxing and enjoying his money, Steve is putting most of it, £30,000 (€36,000) on his native Wales to beat Australia in the rugby on Saturday.

With Wales at 11/10, Steve will double his money if the Welsh record a first win over the Aussies since 2008, and he still has a decent wedge that remains untouched but we will be keeping an eye on the rugby (kick-off at 5pm) tomorrow just for Steve’s sake.

And the man himself told the Mirror he was pretty confident.

“To be quite honest I can’t see them losing. Don’t get me wrong I don’t think there will be a lot in the game. If we’re strong enough we could win by about two scores I would think eight points or something like that. But other than that there’s only going to be two points or three points in it. The World Cup is in two years time in this country, they really need to put one over on Australia. I don’t think Australia are the strongest team at the moment. I think they’re the weakest out of ourselves, New Zealand and South Africa.”

Fingers crossed for you Steve…
