Hands down the best rugby picture of the year so far

It was a bit of a muddy one when Coláiste Iognáid played Rice College of Westport at the weekend in the Connacht Senior Cup.

As you’ve probably noticed, the weather in Ireland has been diabolical lately. And that has led to some of the nation’s playing fields being in, and this is a technical term, rag order.

And while it is bad for any sport, in rugby it is particularly unpleasant as the players spend more time on the ground than Gareth Bale.

So spare a thought for whoever had to clean these two teams kit post game. Taken at the weekend by Joe O’Shaughnessy, and kindly reprinted here under permission from the Connacht Tribune, it shows players from Coláiste Iognáid and Rice College, though we couldn’t tell you which is which.

Coláiste Iognáid (known as the The Jes) won the game, played at Westside in Galway, 7-5.
