Ahead of the four quarter-finals, we posted this list showing you what bets the 20 Irish sports journalists in the Ladbrokes World Cup Naps Media Betting competition had plumped for.
As you can see, none of us will be giving up the days jobs to become professional gamblers just yet. The undoubted bet of the round, and competition so far, was Gareth Makim's punt that Mats Hummels would score first against France. That genius, and big priced, prediction propelled the Metro man to the top of the standings but the race is not over just yet.
Owen Cowzer stays in second after landing three bets from four while Michael Scully predicted all four semi-finalists, but the odds were nowhere near what the Hummels punt returned.
