It’s Germany v Spain in both Champions League semi-finals

The Champions League semi-finals would have been mouthwatering no matter what games were thrown up, but the possibility of an all-German or all-Spanish final still remains.

Having already met in the group stages, Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund will go head to head once again in the Champions League semi-final, with Real travelling to Dortmund for the first clash before the sides meet again in the Bernabeu a week later.

In the other semi-final, the meeting of Bayern Munich and Barcelona is an intriguing one indeed, but having knocked Real Madrid out of the competition at this stage last year, the newly crowned Bundesliga Champions will have no fear hosting Messi and company in the Allianz Arena in the first leg or facing them in the Nou Camp the following week.

The ties would have been exciting no matter what games the draw threw up but the possibility of an all-German final or a Clasico in Wembley next month is a very mouthwatering one indeed.

In the lesser heralded Europa League, meanwhile, Chelsea will face Spurs’ conquerors Basel, with Fenerbahce and Benfica set to go head to head in the other last four clash.
