Joe Brolly’s reaction after hearing the Donegal panel are ‘using’ a gynecologist is gas

Paul Moore

Never knew that about the Ulster champions.

It doesn’t matter how you win the final, once you do it. Donegal were never bothered though as they strolled  to a ninth Ulster SFC crown with a 2-18 to 0-12 win over Fermanagh.

Eoghan Bán Gallagher and Ryan McHugh both found the back of the net as Declan Bonner’s side built up a commanding 8 point lead at half-time.

Sean and Seamie Quigley were the main scorers for Fermanagh but their long wait for a first ever Ulster title continues.

Not even the DUP leader Arlene Foster could inspire the Erne county in Clones as Donegal looked a class apart. Granted, a lot of talk has been made about how the ‘bigger’ counties get additional funding, training facilities, staff etc, but Colm O’Rourke had a very interesting take on how modern GAA teams are coached.

“Every team are paralysed by statisticians, dieticians, nutritionists, gynaecologists – everything that’s with the team,” he said.

At that moment, you can see the light-switch going off in Brolly’s head as he turns to Pat Spillane for confirmation that what he heard is actually what he heard.

Well, if it’s true and it’s working for Donegal, we don’t see them changing it!

Take a look.

Here’s another look.
