With so many big names injured, it is no surprise to see a few new faces…
Joe Schmidt caught us all on the hop when he decided to name his squad for the November internationals a week ahead of schedule today. South Africa, Australia and Georgia are headed this way, to play at Aviva Stadium on November 8, 16 and 22 respectively and Schmidt has named a 37-man squad for the three Tests.
Shorn of many of his big name players (Cian Healy, Sean O’Brien and Andrew Trimble to name just three) Schmidt has gone for a few new faces in his squad, with plenty of opportunities open for players to make a name for themselves one year out from the World Cup.
There are five uncapped players in the squad, Connacht duo Darragh Leader and Nathan White, Ulster’s Jared Payne, Munster’s Dave Foley and Leinster back row Dominic Ryan, who was so impressive in the victory over Wasps on Sunday.
