JOE v Ladbrokes v the JOE readers in the Ladbrokes Treble challenge

Let the games begin…

JOE

Let the games begin…

Fond of a bit of a punt on the footie at the weekend? If so, then we’re going to make the Premier League a lot more interesting this season by pitting our wits against the JOE readers and Ladbrokes’ Hayley O’Connor to see who really knows their stuff.

Every week, we’ll be putting a shout out on Twitter for JOE readers to send us in their Premier League treble selections via the #LadbrokesTreble hashtag and every week, one lucky winner will be able to put someone else’s money where their mouth is with a free €50 Ladbrokes bet on their selection.

The *cough* ultra-knowledgeable heads in the JOE office *cough* will also pick a treble every week, as will Ladbrokes’ Hayley O’Connor and to provide proof of both success and humiliation, there’ll be a leaderboard in place to keep track of everyone’s progress on a weekly basis.

Be warned, we can pretty competitive. Here are this week’s selections:

JOE’s treble:

Hull and Crystal Palace to draw, 12/5

Neil Warnock’s Crystal Palace have been grinding out results using the exact method you would expect from a Neil Warnock team – bore the opposition into submission. We expect them to hold Hull to a draw that only football purists will enjoy.

Stoke to beat Sunderland, 2/1

Take into account that Sunderland’s strikers couldn’t buy a goal at the moment and Stoke have already defeated Sunderland at the Stadium of Light in the League Cup and you will see why JOE is going for Stoke here.

Manchester City to beat Aston Villa 1/2

JOE was surprised at how quickly Villa laid down to be slaughtered by Chelsea last week. We had them in our treble and they let us down, so we’ll hope they get hammered again this weekend.

That treble comes in at almost 15/1

Hayley’s treble:

Hayley, the cheeky bugger, called in the help of a pair of star jockeys to help her this week. Here are her selections, with a little bit of help from Nina Carberry and Katie Walsh.

Man Utd to beat Everton, 4/6.

A brave move by Hayley and her cronies, but should United’s new stars hit their stride then it won’t be a bad one.

Manchester City to beat Aston Villa, 1/2.

We’re not saying Hayley is copying us, but we’re certainly not saying she is not.

Chelsea and Arsenal to draw, 3/1.

At 3/1 this looks a pretty good beat and we’re a little annoyed we didn’t put it in our own treble.

Hayley’s treble comes to a nice 9/1.

JOE readers’ treble:

This week, Sean McNeilly steps up to the mark for the JOE readers. At just over 10/1, we think it’s a solid bet, and it could net Sean a tasty windfall to his Ladbrokes account.
