We are certainly a lucky bunch. We are part of a generation that gets to witness Lionel Messi rip-up the record books and develop into the greatest footballer the world has ever seen.
The diminutive Argentinian just doesn’t know how to stop putting the ball in the net. On Tuesday he scored a terrific hat-trick which saw him surpass Raul as the all-time top goalscorer in the Champions League with 74 goals.
Cristiano Ronaldo got one back on him last night, so he is now joint-second on 71.
It will be interesting to see Messi and Ronaldo battle for the record in the coming years… JOE cannot wait.
His hat-trick against APOEL was everything we’ve come to expect from the world’s greatest player; skill, intelligence and perseverance.
This wasn’t the only acolade Messi received this week. He was also included in Zlatan Ibrahimović dream team… not a bad week at all for the Barcelona talisman.
