Jon Walters: I’ll be fine for the European Championships this summer

Well, that's a relief.

Republic of Ireland striker Jon Walters has told Daniel McDonnell of the Irish Independent that he will be fit for Euro 2016, despite undergoing a small procedure on his knee. "I've had a similar one done before and was back playing in less than three weeks so I'll be grand," said Walters. Sadly, however, he won't be breaking the Internet any time soon. https://twitter.com/JonWalters19/status/715509323250679808 The 32-year-old underwent an operation to fix a cartilage problem on Wednesday but expects to be fully fit again in plenty of time for France. Walters may even return to action for Stoke City before the end of the Premier League season, and is certainly expected to be in contention by the time Ireland take on the Netherlands in an international friendly on 27 May. Last week, Walters was named Ireland Senior International Player of the Year for 2015, having played a key role in our qualification for this summer's finals.
