Jürgen Klopp has signed a contract to keep him at Liverpool for a very long time

They’ll be rejoicing in the red half of Merseyside today.

German coach Jürgen Klopp has committed his long-term future to Liverpool by signing a six-year contract today, the club has confirmed.

Klopp, who led the Reds to two cup finals last season after taking over from Brendan Rodgers in October 2015, is pledged to Liverpool until at least 2022.

FSG, Liverpool’s Boston-based owners, said “When you have an individual of Jürgen’s quality in the building it makes perfect sense to secure that person for the long term. To not do so would be irresponsible.”

Klopp himself lavished praise on his new club, saying:  “It’s hard to express in words how honoured myself, Zeljko and Peter feel by the commitment shown in us by the ownership and the club in general. We are very much at the beginning of our journey, but to already have the connection we have with this very special place is incredible.”
