The Real Madrid striker was taken into custody this morning.
Karim Benzema has been arrested by French police this morning over an alleged blackmail attempt on his French teammate Mathieu Valbuena.
Former Liverpool striker Djibril Cisse is also involved in the case and French media agency AFP have said that the Real Madrid striker is currently being questioned over allegations that he tried to extort money from Lyon midfielder Valbuena in return for the tape not being published.

Further details on the case have been hard to come by as of yet, although Cisse has previously denied any involvement in the incident.
When the former Liverpool striker was taken in for questioning a few weeks ago, three other suspects were arrested in Bouches-du-Rhone, in the south of France, and l’Oise, near Paris.

Benzema didn’t play for Real Madrid in their 1-0 win against PSG last night due to a back-injury.
