She joins a very impressive list of previous winners of the prestigious award.
Olympic gold medallist Katie Taylor has been named 2018’s Overseas Boxer Of The Year by the British Boxing Board of Control.
The Bray native joins the likes of Errol Spence, Jorge Linares, Vitali Klitschko, Sergey Kovalev, and Guillermo Rigondeaux on the list of winners of the title.
Taylor’s manager Brian Taylor tweeted out the following once the announcement was made: “Congratulations to @katietaylor who is the British Boxing Board of Control’s 2018 Overseas Boxer of the Year joining an illustrious list of great fighters who have previously won the award.”
Taylor then responded by saying: “Honoured and privileged to follow in the footsteps of some of these great fighters!”
On top of returning to the ring in October to take on Cindy Serrano, the documentary about her rise to top of the sport is also released on Friday 26 October, and you can read our full review of the movie right here.
