Lions Pic of the Day: Proof, if needed, that Paul O’Connell is harder than most

He might have a fractured arm, but that’s not going to stop Paulie having a dip, and he doesn’t feel the cold either.

He might have a fractured arm, but that’s not going to stop Paulie having  a dip, and he doesn’t feel the cold either.

With the weather in Melbourne resembling a worse than average Irish summer’s day, the Lions are now a long way from  the boiling heat of Hong Kong. But the Victorian capital’s beaches do offer a different way for the Lions to recuperate and help their recovery from various injuries.

Sadly, the waters of Port Phillip Bay won’t cure what’s wrong with Paul O’Connell. The lock’s tour is over after he received a fractured arm in the first Test. With less than two weeks to go, it looks like the Munster man is staying in Oz and remains part of the team, even down to joining in the recovery sessions.

While most of us would be miserable that our Lions playing career is over, O’Connell seems in fine form here as he heads to the water. He also isn’t bothered by the cold, unlike Adam Jones and especially Mike Phillips. Man up lads, it’s only water…
