Listen: Second Captains’ All-Ireland Final local radio commentary remix is just great

God bless local radio...

God bless local radio…

The build up to the All-Ireland football final is in full swing around the country but it’s reaching absolute fever pitch in Kerry and Donegal. Both counties have so much at stake on Sunday with their minor and senior teams involved in the deciders.

If you can’t make it on Sunday, the chances are that you’ll watch the game on RTE (or Sky Sports) but a lot of people also like to listen to the game on the radio. This particular JOE’s father likes to combine both, watch the game on telly with the volume down (no offence to Marty and Ger) and listen to it on the local radio station. It’s weird but it works a treat.

Local radio on All-Ireland final day is something very special. The excitement of a county is bursting out through the speakers and the biased nature of the coverage and game commentary is just hilarious.

Second Captains decided to capture some of the magic by putting together this brilliant montage which features Gary O’Sullivan and Weeshie Fogarty of Radio Kerry and Oisin Kelly and Martin McHugh on Highland FM. Have a listen…

Hat-tip to Second Captains.
