Liverpool have cancelled talks with Raheem Sterling after his agent Aidy Ward said he would not sign a new deal under any circumstances.
Both sides were due to meet on Friday but Ward’s interview with the London Evening Standard, in which he claimed that Sterling wouldn’t sign a deal if the the club offered him £900,000 a week, has put paid to any negotiations.
Ward denied the quotes attributed to him, and calling Kop legend Jamie Carragher a ‘knob,’ and even threatened legal action against the Evening Standard but Liverpoool have cancelled the talks regardless.
Sterling was booed by some Liverpool fans as he accepted the Young Player of the Year award at Tuesday night’s end of season awards ceremony.
The Reds play Stoke City in their final game of the season at the Britannia Stadium on Sunday.
