Is European glory on the horizon for any of these clubs?

After failing to progress in the Champions League, Liverpool face a tough tie against Turkish side Besiktas in the Europa League but Brendan Rodgers’ side do have a very successful recent history when it comes to playing the Turks in Europe.

Does anyone else remember Peter Crouch’s magnificent overhead kick in a resounding 8-0 win at Anfield during the 07/08 campaign?

Tottenham have been handed an extremely difficult assignment when they face Fiorentina and a familiar face in on-loan Man City defender Micah Richards.

Celtic have been given a mouth watering match against Inter Milan which is a repeat of the famous 1967 European Cup final.

While the current Bhoys are far from the vintage ‘Lisbon Lions’ side here’s hoping that they can pull off another memorable win against the stuttering Italian giants.

Everton topped their group in qualifying and Roberto Martinez’ side will face a stern test against the dangerous Young Boys of Berne. There are so many jokes to be made but we shall leave that one for later.

As for some of the other tasty matches, the current holders Sevilla will take on the very impressive Borussia Monchengladbach. Wolfsburg have been a revelation in the Bundesliga this season but they will face a very serious test of their credentials against Nani’s Sporting Lisbon.

Torino take on Athletic Bilbao who will be keen to make an impression after crashing out of the Champions League so tamely while Rafa Benitez’ Napoli face Turkish side Trabzonspor.

Napoli’s Serie A counterparts Roma, who must be high on the bookies list of potential winners, entertain Feyenoord.
