Liverpool are set to splash the cash on Nice striker Loic Remy for a fee of around €15 million.
The 23-year-old is expected to arrive in Merseyside tomorrow to undergo a medical before signing a five-year contract and then joining Roy Hodgson and the squad in pre-season training in Switzerland.
“Liverpool is a legendary club,†Remy told Nice Matin today. “I am very excited by the thought of playing there. It has a magnificent stadium and a fantastic public.â€
Liverpool are expected to pay Nice €9 million upfront with the rest to follow in installments.
Meanwhile, Liverpool will face a long trip east for the Europa League third qualifying round tie later this month, with Roy Hodgson’s side travelling to Macedonia or Armenia.
The Reds will face either Macedonian side Rabotnicki or Armenian outfit Mika as they look to progress in the competition.
The first leg of the tie will be played at Anfield on July 29.
