Louis van Gaal has reacted to Gary Neville’s withering assessment of the upcoming United v Liverpool match this weekend.

Gary Neville (pic below) didn’t mince his words when speaking about the United performance against Southampton last night.

Despite winning the game 2-1, Neville declared that ‘United got away with murder’.

He went further when looking ahead to the United v Liverpool game at Old Trafford this Sunday, likening it to a match between two pub teams.

Van Gaal wasn’t happy with the comments and said “he can say everything because he is an ex-legend. But as an ex-legend … or as a legend, you have to know what you are saying.

“You can interpret that [as you like]. It’s not difficult. He has to pay attention to his words.”

Earlier, Neville had said that the upcoming clash between old foes United and Liverpool would be like “the Dog and Duck versus the Red Lion”.
